The position performs routine administrative support work while acting as the Statewide Intake (SWI) router for the Residential Child Care Licensing (RCCL) program. The position interacts routinely with Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS) staff, other state and federal agencies, various community organizations, and other RCCL staff.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Review all Statewide Intake (SWI) reports of alleged abuse/neglect located in the IMPACT system and assigns to specific RCCI staff per supervisor’s instructions
  • Enters all SWI abuse/neglect reports into the CLASS system.
  • Maintains existing log of all reports of alleged abuse/neglect for SWI.
  • Provides administrative support. Work involves processing incoming and outgoing mail, responding to incoming phone calls, responding to various inquiries concerning child care licensing policies and procedures regarding monitoring and abuse/neglect cases, and making travel and hotel arrangements, as needed.
  • Maintains on-call schedules and tracking systems for monitoring abuse/neglect cases.
  • Maintains filing system for unit information and reports, as needed. • Assists with entering data into computer for completion of central registry and criminal history checks. Reviews results for matches.
  • Distributes letters to providers regarding results, as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and required to maintain unit. Other duties include but not limited to ordering supplies, attending unit meetings, taking and distribute meeting notes, processing requests for Child Protective Services (CPS) case records on possible central registry matches.
  • Promotes and demonstrates appropriate respect for cultural diversity among coworkers and all work related contacts.
  • Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave policy.

Knowledge Skills Abilities:

  • Knowledge of computers.
  • Skill in using Microsoft Works or Windows environment.
  • Skill in working in an office supporting several staff members.
  • Skill in maintaining filing systems to organize and retain essential files.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple assignments in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to provide accurate information to providers, community, and other agency staff.
  • Ability to accurately enter data into computer.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of TDFPS computer programs and systems to include working knowledge of IMPACT information regarding central registry checks to determine reason to believe matches and working knowledge of CLASS.

Minimum qualifications section will include education and experience.

Graduation from high school or equivalent •Two years full-time administrative support, general office, clerical, secretarial or Texas Department of Family and Protective Services experience

Acceptable Substitutions:
Acceptable Substitutions: •Sixty semester hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required experience

Additional Information:
Factors such as education and experience may be considered when establishing the starting salary for employees coming from other state agencies within Texas.
