About the Team
The OPSS Intelligence Unit is responsible for understanding the risk posed by unsafe and non-compliant products to the UK consumer. OPSS works to protect consumers from unsafe products and support businesses through effective regulation. The Unit is integral to building the Office’s knowledge base for effective decision-making. We are seeking an intelligence researcher who can add to the diversity and scope of the Unit to help embed our intelligence capability supporting both operational and strategic Intelligence.
This is an exciting opportunity for a focused individual to be an integral part of a team with the key purpose of consumer safety!
About the Role
As one of 5 intelligence researchers within the team, you will play a meaningful role in the receipt and triage of information and intelligence into the unit through the centralised mailbox. You will contribute to the Tactical Assessment and Strategic Assessment process through developing intelligence using established intelligence techniques and open-source research. Some stakeholder engagement will be required internally and externally with Trading Standards officers and other regulatory agencies throughout the UK.

Do you have the proven ability to?
- Help inform, risk-based decisions ensuring accurate recording of data.
- Utilise effective processes for intelligence gathering, analysis and dissemination, within national guidelines.
- Champion the use of intelligence across the Office helping to embed an intelligence and risk led culture.
- Work independently with minimal direction and show creative and ambitious tendencies.
