Summary

About the Position: Full performance GS-07 Serves as a Management Assistant (Office Automation), to provide management assistant, statistical and administrative support to the Department Chief and department personnel under supervision of the Department Chief, for William Beaumont Army Medical, clinical Services, El Paso Texas

Responsibilities

Provide substantive technical assistance to the Department Chief and project managers assigned to the department.

Conduct department management reviews and prepares descriptive reports, assist in identifying and resolving problems with the chief of the Department.

Assist in the study of office space utilization problems for the division to ensure that changes in utilization are made according to allocated floor space.

Serve as department Training Coordinator for civilian personnel.

Prepare department internal reports which reflect the overall civilian strength posture of the organization.

Travel Required

Occasional travel – You may be expected to travel 5% for this position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Typing Proficiency: A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Are you a qualified typist?

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) office automation systems to enter and extract data to prepare reports, documents and presentations in accordance with established policies and regulatory guidance; 2) receives telephone calls and visitors to the office; 3) preparing meeting minutes from audio or notes; 4) arranging meetings or video teleconferences for staff members and management.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

OR

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Human Resources Management, and/or Public Administration.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in 1) conducting department management reviews and submitting reports using automation systems; 2) preparing and editing reports, budget reports and other suspense documents in accordance with established policies and regulatory guidance; 3) Maintaining organizational and office filing system in accordance with established procedures and regulations; 4) coordinating daily schedules and calendars for management.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

OR

Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Human Resources Management, and/or Public Administration.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
